Professional Bio
Professor Yenna Salamonson is the Head of the School of Nursing at the University of Wollongong, a role she has held since June 2022. She is globally recognized for her contributions to nursing education and research, having been named among the world’s top 2% scientists by Elsevier in 2021 for her career achievements and the year 2020. Her dedication to student education is evident through numerous teaching awards, including the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Teaching and the Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. Yenna’s research focuses on the healthcare workforce, and educational needs of health professionals. She has a publication record with over 200 peer-reviewed papers and has supervised over 25 research students to completion. Her interdisciplinary approach to healthcare education and practice has significantly impacted the academic performance of nursing students, particularly those for whom English is an additional language.
