Stephen is Professor and Head of Domain – Nursing at Te Pūkenga. His research specialises in gerontology with a focus on the health and wellbeing of older adults. He is a named investigator on a nationally funded 5-year research program titled "Modified Pathways to Sustainable Ageing in Aotearoa," aiming to reduce frailty and promote sustainable, healthy ageing. Stephen is the Editor for the Journal of Clinical Nursing and serves on the Editorial Board for the Australasian Journal on Ageing. He is also a Fellow and Life Member of the College of Nurses Aotearoa (NZ), and mentors nurses in leadership and research development.
